Ghana's Kwasi Sibo is poised to debut for Al-Swehly as the Libyan side host Tunisian giants Esperance in the CAF Champions League.
Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo is set to make his Al-Swehly debut on Sunday, when the Libyan side welcome Tunisian heavyweights Esperance de Tunis in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Sibo joined Al-Swehly in the summer window but sat out the first round of the competition. Now he is expected to slot into the squad for a tie that could define the club's continental ambitions. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 GMT, with the return leg to follow on Saturday, 24 October in Tunisia.
For Al-Swehly, the equation is simple: get a strong result at home and give themselves a real shot at reaching the group stage of the 2026-27 edition. Esperance are one of the continent's most decorated clubs, so the Libyans will lean on the experience of a former Real Oviedo man to help them stand tall in a huge test.
There is a national team storyline too. Sibo could be in line for a Black Stars recall for the double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ghana host the first of those games at the Accra Sports Stadium in November, desperate to revive a campaign that began with defeats to Cote d'Ivoire and The Gambia.
A strong showing against Esperance would be the perfect way for Sibo to announce himself in Libya and put his name back in the frame for Ghana.
