Medeama keeper Felix Kyei says the defending champions are done with draws and defeats at Nsenkyire and are going all out for a first win there.
Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC head into a tricky Week 7 trip with a clear message from the last line of defence: the away drought against FC Samartex ends now. Goalkeeper Felix Kyei has declared that the Tarkwa side are going to Nsenkyire Sports Arena for all three points.
Medeama have not won away to Samartex since 2023, and Kyei knows the numbers well. Since he arrived at the club, the two sides have met three times at Samartex's ground, with Medeama drawing twice and losing once. For a team carrying the champions' badge, that record is not good enough.
"For us as players, we are very prepared for the game," Kyei said ahead of the match. He admitted that playing Samartex away is never straightforward, but insisted the squad is ready for the challenge and wants a different result this time.
The pressure is on both sides to make a statement early in the campaign. Samartex have made their home ground a difficult place for visitors, and Medeama will need discipline at the back and sharp finishing to break the pattern.
The fixture is set for Sunday, October 18, with kick-off at 3 pm. Will Kyei's words turn into a long-awaited win for the champions? We will find out soon enough.
