French-Ghanaian forward Godson Kyeremeh provided a slick assist, but Red Star were overpowered by Nancy at Stade Bauer in Ligue 2.
French-Ghanaian forward Godson Kyeremeh did his part with a clever assist, but it was not enough to spare Red Star a heavy 4-1 home defeat to Nancy in Ligue 2.
The visitors struck first in the 21st minute when Ilyes Housni finished after a pass from goalkeeper Enzo Basilio. Red Star hit back nine minutes later, and Kyeremeh was the creator, picking out Théo Magnin with a smart delivery for the equalizer at 1-1.
The hosts could not hold on to the momentum. Nehemiah Fernandez put Nancy back in front in first-half stoppage time, finishing a Jérémy Gélin assist, and Red Star went into the break trailing 2-1.
Nancy took control after the restart. Gélin added a third in the 61st minute, and El Hadary Raheriniaina sealed the result in the 86th minute from a Housni assist. Kyeremeh was taken off in the 64th minute after an encouraging display.
The assist was the first of his season, coming in his seventh Ligue 2 appearance. It is a positive sign for a young player still carving out his place in France's second tier, even on a night when the result went firmly against his side.
