MBB Stuns Hosts in Kigali Thriller as Al Ahli Tripoli Marches to Playoffs

Gameday four of the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Nile Conference served up another memorable result as South Africa’s Made by Ball Basketball clinched their second-ever tournament win.

MBB saw off hosts APR 94-88 at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, on Thursday, to clinch back-to-back wins thanks to a superb third-quarter performance.

The South Africans, who lost 103-81 to APR in their first matchup, outscored their Rwandan opponent by 10 points in the third quarter after being down by one heading into the halftime break.

Keeping their BAL playoff hopes alive, Jovan Mooring led MBB with a solid 29 points, eight rebounds, and five assists performance, shooting an efficient 11-for-16 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc.

Teafale Lenard Jr. finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three blocks for MBB in another monster performance. Robinson Odoch added 14 points, and Game 3 hero Pieter Prinsloo added 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds as four of their five starters ended with double figures.

Obadiah Noel’s 23 points off the bench, however, led APR, who suffered their second defeat in the Nile Conference. Youssoupha Ndoye had a 19-point and 10-rebound double-double performance, while Chasson Randle (13) and Ntore Habimana (12) combined for 25 points.

Meanwhile, Jean Jacques Boissy scored a game-high 26 points as Al Ahli Tripoli maintained their perfect record in the Nile Conference and progressed to the BAL playoffs with a 104-91 win over Kenya’s Nairobi City Thunder

Team captain Mohamed Sadi finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists; Nigeria international Caleb Agada added 16 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in 27 minutes off the bench; and Deon Thompson settled for 13 points and six rebounds.

The Thunder, still without a win in the conference, got 23 points from Nigeria’s Uchenna Iroegbu. Albert Odero poured in 17 points as a substitute to go along with 12 points from captain Tylor Ongwae.

Al Ahli Tripoli remain atop the Nile Conference standings with an unblemished record of four wins. APR follows behind in second thanks to a superior points difference over MBB, with both sides boasting two wins and two losses, while the Thunder are bottom of the conference.
