Moise Kouame becomes youngest ATP Masters winner since Rafael Nadal in 2003

Share

Moise Kouame has become the youngest man to win a match at an ATP Masters 1000 event since Rafael Nadal achieved the feat in 2003.

At just 17 years old, Kouame secured his first main-draw victory on the Miami Open, defeating American Zachary Svajda in three sets.

Kouame lost the opening set but fought back strongly to win the match 5–7, 6–4, 6–4 after a physically demanding contest in hot conditions.

The teenager showed resilience throughout the match, saving multiple break points and battling cramps late in the deciding set before eventually sealing victory.

The win marks a significant breakthrough for the young Frenchman, who entered the tournament with a wildcard after impressing on junior and lower-tier circuits.

He thus earns the right to face Jiri Lehecka in the second round. But for now, let’s just applaud a new talent on the world tennis stage.
