Eric Wiafe Darkwah kept his nerve from the spot in added time to hand Swedru All Blacks a dramatic win over Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.
Ghana's league scene produced another late-drama special as young winger Eric Wiafe Darkwah stepped up in stoppage time and buried a penalty to lift Swedru All Blacks past Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League. The Week Six clash at Wenchi Stadium went down to the wire, and Darkwah delivered when it mattered most.
The talented attacker was named Man of the Match, and afterwards he pointed to grit and discipline as the foundation of the result. He said a team must stay determined and compact, and that the squad went into the game with belief because they had beaten Kotoko before. In his words, players must never give up and must trust that chances will come.
That mindset paid off in the final moments. Swedru stayed organised, stayed patient, and were rewarded with the decisive spot-kick, which Darkwah converted to seal all three points against the Porcupine Warriors.
The victory lifts Swedru All Blacks to eighth in the table. They are level on 8 points with Asante Kotoko but sit ahead on goal difference, so the stoppage-time strike has real consequences in a tightly packed league.
Both sides now turn their attention to the next round. Swedru All Blacks will face Karela United, while Asante Kotoko will look to bounce back at home against Young Apostles.
