Roma are reportedly tracking Genoa's 18-year-old Italian-Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Wiafe, who is tied to the club until 2030.
Another Ghana-heritage talent is making noise in Italy. Samuel Wiafe, the 18-year-old Italian-Ghanaian midfielder, has reportedly caught the eye of Roma, who are said to be monitoring his progress at Genoa.
Wiafe arrived at Genoa from Modena on 2 July 2026 in a deal reported at €3m, signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2030. His market value is currently listed at €2.5m, but that long deal means any suitor would have to negotiate with Genoa rather than simply wait for him to become available.
The right-footed central midfielder is still settling into his first season at Genoa. He has made five appearances so far, three of them in Serie A, and has played 204 league minutes. He has also supplied one assist in the Italian Cup. It is a small sample, but it is enough to put an 18-year-old on a big club's radar.
His path has been a steady one. Wiafe came through Modena's youth system into the senior side before making his move to Genoa. He holds both Italian and Ghanaian nationality, which makes him one to watch for the Ghanaian diaspora following Serie A.
For now, this is interest and nothing more. There is no sign that Roma have agreed anything with Genoa or the player, and no formal terms have been settled. Wiafe remains a Genoa player under contract through June 2030.
