Gabby Williams drops 17 and Golden State's defense holds firm as the Valkyries edge Atlanta 67-62 to turn the Finals into a best-of-three sprint.
The WNBA Finals are all square. The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream 67-62 in Game 4 on Saturday, and a series that once seemed to be tilting toward Atlanta is now a true tossup.
Gabby Williams led the way with 17 points, and Golden State's defense did the heavy lifting. The Valkyries built a lead as large as 16 by making Atlanta work for every look and keeping the Dream out of rhythm for long stretches.
The Dream did not go quietly. Atlanta mounted a late push that sliced into the cushion and made the closing minutes tense, but Golden State kept its composure and got the stops it needed to finish the job. Angel Reese was held to just eight points, a major blow to Atlanta's hopes of keeping the momentum on its side.
The best-of-seven series now returns to California, where Game 5 tips off on Monday. With the Finals level at 2-2, every possession from here on out carries championship weight.
