WNBA Finals Game 6 Tips at Midday ET, Prime Time for African Fans

A 12:30pm ET Game 6 is an early alarm in California, but it lands in the evening across much of Africa.

For fans across Africa, the WNBA Finals just got easier to watch. Game 6 between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries tips at 12:30pm ET on Thursday, which works out to an evening start across much of the continent. No late-night alarms are needed to catch a potential title decider.

The timing is far less friendly on the other side of the United States. In the Bay Area, Valkyries supporters will be tuning in at 9:30am local time, mid-morning on a workday for a team whose fans have packed the building all season.

The league has also moved the game to the larger State Farm Arena in Atlanta, giving the Dream a bigger crowd for a potentially decisive night. The midday slot comes from a conflict: the Hawks have an NBA game in the same building that evening, and that fixture could not be shifted.

Dream guard Allisha Gray shrugged off the unusual tip-off. According to her, the time of day makes no difference, and the focus stays on the court. With a title possibly on the line, the only thing that matters is who is ready when the ball goes up.
