The Atlanta Dream will host the Valkyries at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena after the WNBA moved Game 3 up a day and Game 4 to an earlier tip-off.
Atlanta is home to one of the largest African diaspora communities in the United States, and it just got more room to show up for the Dream. The WNBA has rearranged its finals schedule so Atlanta can host the Golden State Valkyries at the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena.
Game 3 of the best-of-seven series has been moved up a day and will now be played on Wednesday 21 October. That shift avoids a scheduling conflict at the venue and lets the Dream stage their home games in a far bigger building.
The league has also changed Game 4. It will now tip off at 1pm ET on Saturday 24 October, two and a half hours earlier than originally planned. For fans following from across the continent, that is 5pm GMT and 6pm in Lagos, so it is a friendlier slot for an afternoon watch party.
One question is still open: where a potential Game 6 will be played. The league has not settled the venue, so Dream supporters will have to wait and see whether the bigger-arena setup continues if the series goes that deep.
