Morocco won the bronze medal in the men’s football competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics after beating Egypt 6-0 on Thursday in the third-place match in Nantes.
Morocco became the first Arab team to win a medal in football competitions at the Olympics.
Abdessamad Ezzalzouli opened the scoring with a focused right-footed shot inside the penalty area in the 23rd minute.
Top scorer Soufiane Rahimi doubled the lead with a header in the 26th minute.
Bilal El Khannous added the third goal with a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area 51.
Then Rahimi came back and scored the fourth in the 64th minute, raising his tally to 8 goals in the competition, before Akram Naqqash added the fifth in the 73rd minute.
Three minutes before the end, Achraf Hakimi concluded the goals with a direct free kick that he executed perfectly.
The final match of the competition will be played tomorrow, Friday, between host France and Spain, runner-up of the last edition of the Olympics, at the Parc des Princes stadium in the capital, Paris.
