Chelsea Complete Signing of 15-Year-Old Mathis Eboué, Son of Former Arsenal Star

Chelsea have completed the signing of England under-16 star Mathis Eboué from Watford according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Mathis is the son of former Arsenal star Emmanuel Eboue and according to Romano he can now be considered a Chelsea player.

The Blues have really focused on signing young talent not just for the first team but also the academy following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022, with Estevao Willian the most exciting of the lot.

Eboue, who has three caps and one goal for the England under-16 side, made his debut in September and has been part of the youth setup at Watford.

The 15-year-old is a midfield player and has also been playing up an age group at Watford, where he’s believed to have caught the eye of bigger clubs.

Transfer guru Romano broke the story on Friday and revealed that the teenager can now be considered a Chelsea player.

“EXCL: Chelsea have completed deal to sign England U16 talent Mathis Eboué (15) from Watford. High quality attacking player, Eboué is former Arsenal player’s son, now can be considered #CFC player. Paperwork done, one more for Chelsea Academy long term plan. Here we go.”

As well as improving the first team Chelsea are also looking to ensure they have the best talent in their Cobham academy and this isn’t the first time the Blues have signed promising youngsters from other academies.

The Blues have spent a lot of money on the likes of Shim Mheuka from Brighton who could cost as much as £4.25m, and the 17-year-old has been named in the match day squad in the Conference League this season.

How good Eboue will become is very hard to tell, but this move to Chelsea has shown he’s heading in the right direction, but he will have to get his head down and work hard given the amount of talent at Cobham if he’s to have a chance of making the first team in the future.
