Jeremie Frimpong Visits Ghana for the First Time

Dutch-Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jeremie Frimpong has expressed his strong connection to his Ghanaian roots upon arriving in Ghana for a Christmas holiday.

The 24-year-old, who is enjoying the Bundesliga winter break, touched down in the West African country on Sunday, accompanied by family members.

They were warmly welcomed with traditional jama songs and vibrant dances.

In an interview, Frimpong shared his excitement about returning to the land of his parents.

“Amazing to come to this welcoming atmosphere for the first time, amazing you know,” he said.

“This is my people so I am so happy to see everybody. I’m so happy to be in Ghana. I’ve always been connected to my Ghanaian roots.

“Both my parents are Ghanaian, I eat Ghanaian food, and I speak the language. Obviously being here makes it extra special,” he added.

The 24-year-old has been in strong form for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring two goals and providing four assists in 15 Bundesliga matches, as well as four assists in six UEFA Champions League games.
