Although Dortmund fell short of overturning their 4-0 first-leg deficit, the Guinean striker lit up the night with a sensational individual performance.
Guirassy became the first African player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League quarter-finals or beyond. His three-goal haul also took his tally to 13 goals this campaign—the most ever by an African player in a single UCL season.

Adding to the milestone, Guirassy is now the first African footballer to score a hat-trick against Barcelona in Europe’s elite competition.
The 29-year-old has been in lethal form since his move from Stuttgart, racking up 28 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund.
Despite his brilliance, the German side bowed out of the tournament, while Barcelona move on to a semi-final clash with either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan.

Dortmund, meanwhile, will turn their attention back to the Bundesliga as they look to revive their top-four hopes in a weekend clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
