Chelsea have announced the £12 million signing of French defender Mamadou Sarr from ‘sister club’ Strasbourg.
The 19-year-old, who is the son of former Senegal international Pape Sarr, has signed an eight-year deal until 2033 with the Blues.
Sarr can represent Chelsea at this summer’s Club World Cup set to take place in the United States from 14 June to 13 July.

A deal for the France youth international had been agreed upon in January between Chelsea and Strasbourg, who are both owned by American Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital under the BlueCo group.
Sarr played 28 times for Strasbourg in 2024-25, including 27 appearances in Ligue 1 as they finished seventh and booked a spot in the Conference League play-offs.
The teenage defender is Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer after Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, and Dario Essugo from Sporting.
Chelsea will begin their participation in the Club World Cup against Los Angeles FC on 16 June in their Group D opener, before facing Brazilian side Flamengo on 20 June and Tunisian champions ES Tunis on 25 June in their final group game.
