Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a hat-trick as Bayern Munich defeated Auckland City 10-0 in their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Group C opener in Cincinnati on Sunday.
The German heavyweights were too much to handle for the New Zealanders as they were 3-0 up after 20 minutes courtesy of Kingsley Coman, Sacha Boey and Michael Olise.
Coman and Olise went on to complete their braces while club veteran Thomas Muller added his name to the scoresheet for a commanding 6-0 first half lead.
Bayern were not done yet as they had more goals in the tank in the second half. Musiala, who came on for Harry Kane just past the hour mark, scored in the 67th, 73rd (penalty) and 84th minute before Muller rounded things off in the 89th minute for his own brace.
The victory gives Vincent Kompany’s side a superior goal difference after one game and will next face Argentine giants Boca Juniors in Miami Gardens on Friday.
