Galatasaray set to Sign Victor Osimhen Permanently from Napoli

#image_title

Victor Osimhen is set to become a Galatasaray player on a permanent basis after the Turkish giants reached an agreement with his parent club Napoli.

The 26-year-old Nigerian had a fruitful loan stint in Istanbul last season, scoring a record 37 goals in 41 competitive games as Gala won a record-extending 25th Super Lig title as well as a 19th Turkish Cup.

The future of Osimhen has been up in the air all summer with one year left to go on his current Napoli contract and the Italian club holding out on his release clause set at €75 million.

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal had made multiple offers for the 2023 African Player of the Year but he rejected a lucrative move to the Middle East.

Galatasaray have been keen to get Osimhen back on a permanent basis, and after making multiple rejected bids below Napoli’s valuation, both clubs have now struck a deal.

According to reports, the Yellow-Reds will pay an immediate fee of €40 million while the remaining €35 million will be paid in a year.

There is also a €5 million fee which is performance-based on goals scored while Napoli has a 10% profit on any future sale.

Osimhen will also be unable to sign for another Italian club in the next two years as part of the deal.

He famously helped the Partenopei to a third Serie A title and first in 33 years, winning the Capocannoniere was top scorer with 26 goals.

He became a cult hero but fell out with the club before the arrival of head coach Antonio Conte and was subsequently frozen out of the team.

Should the deal be finalised in time, Osimhen will connect with his Galatasaray teammates that have played two pre-season games against Turkish side Umraniyespor and Austrian outfit Flyeralarm Admira, and have won both.

They will start friendlies against European opposition on Wednesday against Italian side Cagliari followed by Strasbourg and Lazio before kicking off their Super Lig title defence away at Gaziantep on August 8.
