Nigeria’s D’Tigress extended their remarkable unbeaten run at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket with a commanding 83–47 victory over Cameroon on Thursday in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
The reigning champions dominated proceedings at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, stretching their Afrobasket winning streak to an impressive 27–0.
Rena Wakama’s side controlled three of the four quarters, heading into half-time with a 12-point cushion after limiting Cameroon to just nine points in a dominant opening quarter.
Nigeria turned up the pressure in the second half, particularly in a blistering third quarter that ended 25–2 in their favour. With the result effectively sealed, the D’Tigress eased off slightly in the final period but still edged it 17–16 to seal a statement win and a place in the semi-finals.
Statistically superior in every department, D’Tigress shot 50% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc, while forcing 20 turnovers and converting them into 26 points. They also tallied 21 fast-break points and overwhelmed Cameroon with their depth.

Captain Amy Okonkwo led the charge with 18 points and six rebounds, while Elizabeth Balogun, the other starter in double figures, added 11 points.

The Nigerian bench proved decisive, outscoring their Cameroonian counterparts 42–15. Victoria Macaulay and Nicole Enabosi both chipped in 12 points apiece, with Ifunaya Okoro contributing seven on an efficient 66.7% shooting.
Meanwhile, Cameroon’s Jessica Thomas posted 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Dulcy Fankam finished with 10 points.
Up next for the D’Tigress is a semi-final showdown with 11-time champions Senegal, who edged hosts Cote d’Ivoire 66–60 earlier in the day. The Teranga Lionesses, led by former D’Tigress coach Otis Hughley Jr., were inspired by Cierra Dillard’s 16 points and Yacine Diop’s 13-point and eight-rebound display.
In the other quarter-final matchups, South Sudan narrowly defeated Uganda 66–65, with Delicia Washington scoring 17 points. They will face Mali in the semi-finals after the West Africans cruised to an 86–68 win over Mozambique, powered by a game-high 18 points from Djeneba Ndiaye.
