The Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the final 12-man roster for the D’Tigers ahead of the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket in Angola.
Seventeen players were initially named in the preliminary roster last month, but the list has been trimmed to 12 following a week-long training camp in Abuja.
Ike Nwamu and Stan Okoye will serve as co-captains of the squad, which also features Houston Rockets guard Josh Okogie and 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) champion Caleb Agada.
The remaining players on the roster are: Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Talib Zanna, Mike Nuga, Devin Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, and Emmanuel Omogbo.
The team will be led to the tournament by head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman, who will be assisted by Deji Akindele and Ikenna Smart.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside three-time champions Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon. The 2025 Afrobasket will be take place from 12–24 August across two Angolan cities – Luanda and Mocamedes.
The D’Tigers will open their campaign against Madagascar on 13 August, followed by fixtures against Tunisia on 15 August and Cameroon on 17 August. They will play all their group games at the Helmarc Arena in Luanda.
Nigeria have lifted the Afrobasket trophy only once, defeating record winners Angola 74–65 in the 2015 final.
As part of their preparations, the D’Tigers faced Guinea in two warm-up scrimmages during the week, winning the first 78–73 before narrowly losing the second 68–65.
