Ghana and Chelsea legend, Michael Essien has been handed a coaching job with the under 19 team of Sabail Fk of Azerbaijani Premier
Essien joined the senior team of Sabail FK as a player in March last year 2019 as a free agent after ending his contract with Indonesian side Persib Bandung.
The midfielder started his professional career for Liberty Professional in Ghana before moved to France in the year 2000. He joined Ligue 1 side Bastia before joining Lyon in the same league and won the League title with them back to back in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005.

In 2005, Michael Essien signed a record fee of 24.4 million for Chelsea and was then Africa most expensive transfer in Africa Football history.
The former Real Madrid player helped Chelsea to win the UEFA Champions League in 2012 after he won the English Premier League with Chelsea twice. He also won Chelsea goal of the season in the 2006-07 and 2008and 09.

The Ghanaian international feature in the youth level for Ghana in U-17 FIFA World Cup Championship, with the team finishing as runner-up. The 37-year-old represented his nation in the world cup for the first time in 2006.
