The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have confirmed that technical director Mahmoud Saad tested positive for the coronavirus.
The association made the unfortunate announcement on Thursday.
According to the The EFA, the veteran tactician was announced COVID-19 positive after coming into direct contact with a number of positive cases that arrived in Egypt.
“Saad will follow the treatment protocol to fight the virus,” the EFA added.
The EFA added that the former Zamalek gaffer will undergo the medical protocol cited by the Ministry of Health and will take all the official measurements to face the virus.
Saad’s situation will likely jolt the EFA’S plan for football to return in the country after Egypt’s prime minister Mostafa Madbooly announced that sporting activities might be allowed as from mid-June.
Football activities in the country have been halted since mid-March over the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.
Egypt’s corona cases have increased to 19,666 and death toll to 816 nationwide, according to the latest health ministry statement issued on Wednesday.
