Lewis Hamilton condemns F1 stars who are silent on George Floyd’s murder

Strong words from Lewis Hamilton.

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has hit out at his colleagues who have remained silent following the killing of George Floyd by a white police officer.

The six-time F1 World Champion said he has been left disappointed by the fact that no one in the racing sport has spoken against the racial injustice meted out to the black man.

Floyd was coldly murdered last Monday, May 25 in Minneapolis after a police officer pressed his knee on his neck.

The black man constantly yelled that he couldn’t breathe but the officer refused to take his knee off the victim’s neck, leading to his demise after suffocating.

Many across the world have condemned police brutality, especially against persons of colour in the United States.

Some sports personalities have also joined the “Justice for Floyd” crusade, including LeBron James and Paul Pogba.

An angry Hamilton took to Instagram to call out his Formula One colleagues for staying silent since the incident happened.

“I see those of you who are staying silent, some of you the biggest of stars yet you stay silent in the midst of injustice,” the FI star posted.

“Not a sign from anybody in my industry which of course is a white-dominated sport.

“I’m one of the only people of colour there yet I stand alone. I would have thought by now you would see why this happens and say something about it but you can’t stand alongside us. Just know I know who you are, and I see you.”
