Russell Westbrook has announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Houston Rockets star tweeted on Monday that he tested positive before his Rockets teammates were scheduled to travel to Walt Disney World for the resumption of the NBA season
Westbrook, averaging 27.5 points, eight rebounds and seven assists per game for the Rockets this season, is one of three Rockets (along with James Harden and Luc Mbah a Moute), that did not make the trip last week to the Orlando bubble.
There was speculation as to why Westbrook did not join the team last week, but this tweet from Russ confirms the reasoning behind his late arrival.
The team arrived Friday in the bubble and have already completed two practices. Mike D’Antoni said last night that he hoped Westbrook would join the team sometime this week.
Houston has clinched a playoff spot and resumes its season with the first of eight seeding games on July 31 against Dallas.
