Senegalese international Mame Diouf has signed a contract extension with Championship club Stoke City to cover the rest of the 2019-20 campaign.

The 32-year-old forward can now participate in the remaining games in the 2019/20 season against Bristol City, Brentford and Nottingham.

A statement from the Potters’ website read: “Stephen Ward and striker Mame Diouf, whose contracts were due to expire at the end of June, have both signed extensions until the end of the current season.”

Diouf was Stoke’s top scorer in 2014/15 – their best season in the Premier League under Mark Hughes – but was subsequently used at wing-back as he fall into the fringes.

The forward has been with the Potters since the summer of 2014 after joining the side from German Bundesliga side Hannover 96 on a four-year contract deal.

He played 144 times for Stoke, netting 24 goals since his return to England, having previously featured for Manchester United.

In the current campaign, Diouf has been limited to 11 appearances across all competitions, including eight in the Championship, owing to injury and other issues.
