Former Arsenal striker Perry Groves says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be deserving of a £500,000-a-week contract at Arsenal.
Groves believes the Gabon international has done enough at the Emirates to deserve a huge raise.
Aubameyang, who currently captains Arsenal, has been in imperious form since joining the Gunners.
The 31-year-old netted 22 times in the just ended Premier League season, while also scoring doubles in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final and final wins over Manchester City and Chelsea, respectively.
The forward, however, has just 12 months left on his current contract and is yet to sign an extension.
Groves, who lined up for Arsenal during his playing days, believes Aubameyang would be deserving of half-a-million per week.
“I don’t care as an Arsenal fan, and I know we’re in difficult financial times, if they said Aubameyang is on £400,000, £500,000 a week, it wouldn’t bother me at all because some players warrant it,” the ex-footballer-turned-pundit told TalkSPORT.
“Some players warrant it and he does because he delivers. Fans get the hump with players that get a lot of money and don’t deliver and don’t look like they care.”
Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph means the club will play in next season’s Europa League after missing out on the Champions League places.
