Chelsea have confirmed the signing of defender Ben Chilwell from Premier League rivals Leicester City.
The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal, estimated to be worth in the region of £45 million.
Chilwell becomes the Blues’ third signing this summer, following the acquisition of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werna from Ajax and RB Leipzid, respectively.
Speaking after his unveiling, the left-back said he is looking forward to helping Chelsea win trophies.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season,” he said.
“He [Lampard] does play the younger players if they are good enough and just from speaking to him, I’m really excited to be here. I think the way the gaffer sets his teams up suits my game perfectly.”
Chilwell has 11 England caps and made a total of 123 appearances for Leicester since being handed his senior debut in 2015.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia described the England defender as a fantasic signing.
“We are confident Ben will adapt very quickly to being a Chelsea player and with the fixture programme for 2020-21 especially busy, he is a fantastic addition to the squad needed to challenge for honours,” she said.
