Francis Ngannou frustrated as he awaits rematch with UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic

Francis Ngannou

UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou believes his prime years are being wasted as he awaits his second title shot.

The Cameroonian fighter and former title challenger is tired of waiting on the sideline for another title shot at champion Stipe Miocic.

The 34-year-old told “Morning Kombat”: “It’s very complicated right now. Even before the May fight [against Jairzinho Rozenstruik], I was expecting a title fight and they told me they had to do this trilogy between [Daniel Cormier] and Stipe.”

“I was almost one year away without fighting, so they gave me the fight against Rosenstruik. Basically, that was just to stay active.

“Since August, there have been nothing but problems. I was expecting that I would fight maybe in December or something, but it appears that Stipe is not fighting until March. That’s what they tell me. The only thing that I have to do is to wait until March for the fight.”

“I’m in a position which is very complicated… I’m in my prime age and I’m wasting time without fighting, so it’s kind of frustrating.

Stipe Miocic dominated Ngannou the first time the two men faced each other. ‘The Predator’ had to work his way back to the top to make sure he deserved a title shot, which is what he did.

According to UFC president Dana White, a potentially booking the Miocic-Ngannou rematch for March is being booked, but there haven’t been any updates.

Miocic (20-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) most recently defended the title in August when he outpointed Daniel Cormier in a trilogy rubber match at UFC 252. It was the first time the belt was successfully defended since August 2019.
