Ex-Hearts of Oak skipper Lawrence Adjah-Tetteh steers Greater Accra to U17 Colts glory on penalties, and bigger jobs could be next.
Ghanaian football has a fresh coaching story to follow. Former Hearts of Oak captain Lawrence Adjah-Tetteh has won his first major title from the touchline, guiding Greater Accra to the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship.
The final at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Saturday, October 10, was a tense one. Greater Accra and Western Region could not be separated over 90 minutes, finishing 0-0, before the shootout settled it. Greater Accra held their nerve to win 5-4 on penalties.
The former midfielder has been building toward this moment away from the spotlight. He founded the Adjah Tetteh Soccer Academy at Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, where he works with young players coming through. In 2023, he added technical director and head coach duties at Jonina Ladies Football Academy to his CV.
A national youth title is the kind of result that gets noticed, and it could put the ex-Hearts leader in the conversation for bigger coaching roles. For a man who wore the armband at one of Ghana's biggest clubs, this may be the start of a serious second act.
The tournament, backed by the KGL Foundation, forms part of the Ghana FA's Talent Development Scheme, which aims to identify and nurture the country's next generation of football stars.
