Ghana's U17 side took down Benin at the WAFU B Championship, yet coach Kassim Ocansey wants less switching off and more bite going forward.
Ghana's Black Starlets kept their WAFU B U17 Championship campaign rolling with a 3-1 win over Benin, their second victory of the tournament. The result strengthens their push to reach the next stage, and head coach Kassim Ocansey is happy with the points while making clear there is work to do.
The Starlets looked in command after going 2-0 up, but the intensity dropped and Benin crept back into the contest with a goal of their own. Ocansey admitted his players lost concentration at that stage and let the opposition back into the game, a lapse he will want fixed before tougher tests arrive.
The response after the break pleased him. Ghana came out stronger in the second half and sealed the win with a third goal, showing the resilience a young side needs in a tight regional tournament.
Ocansey was also encouraged by the team's sharpness in front of goal. His players had put in specific finishing work in training, and scoring three times suggested that effort is starting to pay off.
With momentum building, the focus for Ghana's young stars now turns to staying switched on for the full 90 minutes. If they tighten up at the back and keep their cutting edge, the Black Starlets will be a tough side to stop in this competition.
