Ghana's U17 stars have cruised into the last four and now eye an AFCON ticket and the regional crown under coach Kassim Ocansey.
Ghana's young Black Starlets are marching toward continental glory. A 3-1 victory over Benin has sealed their place in the WAFU B U17 Championship semi-finals with a group game still to play, and the West African giants are firmly on track for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The result extends Ghana's impressive start to the AFCON qualifying push and confirms that the next generation of Ghanaian talent is delivering when it matters. Reaching the last four keeps the squad in the hunt for a ticket to the continental showpiece.
Head coach Kassim Ocansey has made no secret of the plan. He says Ghana arrived with three clear targets: make the semi-finals, reach the final to book an AFCON berth, and lift the WAFU B trophy. The first box is now ticked, and he is wasting no time looking ahead.
"Coming here, we had three targets; to qualify for the semi-final, to qualify for the AFCON by being finalists and to lift the trophy," Ocansey said. "So far, the first target has been achieved. We have two more to chase and In Sha Allah we will achieve."
With progress secured, the Starlets now turn their attention to their final group-stage fixture. The focus will be on keeping the momentum rolling and sharpening up before the knockout rounds, where the real race for that AFCON place begins.
