Ghanaian-descent winger Jeremy Doku set up Phil Foden's opener as Manchester City edged a nervy 3-2 thriller against Ipswich Town at the Etihad.
Ghanaian-descent star Jeremy Doku was once again among the difference-makers for Manchester City, providing the opening assist in a 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Belgium international started on the left and spent 77 minutes causing problems with his pace and direct running. In the 19th minute, his creativity paid off when he set up Phil Foden to put City ahead.
Ipswich responded through Daizen Maeda, who pulled the visitors level. City hit back quickly, with Erling Haaland restoring the lead before the half-hour mark and sending the hosts into the break in front. Haaland added his second goal of the afternoon in the 69th minute to put City 3-1 up.
Ipswich made the finish tense in stoppage time, as Zian Flemming kept his cool to convert from the penalty spot. It was too little, too late, and City held on for all three points.
The assist is a welcome boost for Doku, who now has five appearances and one goal for City this season. With his dribbling and ability to stretch defences, the former Stade Rennais man keeps proving why Pep Guardiola trusts him on the flank.
