Ghana's Douglas Owusu netted in the 10th minute to power Hapoel Tel Aviv to a 3-1 Israeli Premier League win and reach three goals in six games.
Ghanaian talent Douglas Owusu is making his mark in Israel. The young forward scored inside ten minutes as Hapoel Tel Aviv beat Kiryat Shmona 3-1 in the Israeli Premier League on Saturday.
Owusu broke the deadlock in the 10th minute at Kiryat Shmona Municipal Stadium, handing the visitors the early lead they wanted. It was a sharp, confident start from a side looking to keep their momentum rolling in the top flight.
Another Ghanaian, Emmanuel Boateng, doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, and Hapoel Tel Aviv were firmly in control. Israeli striker Omri Altman then made it 3-0 in the 58th minute, effectively ending the contest.
Kiryat Shmona pulled one back in stoppage time when Senegalese forward Amadou Sagna converted from the penalty spot. It was only a consolation, and Hapoel Tel Aviv saw the game out to collect all three points.
For Owusu, the strike is another encouraging moment in a promising season. He now has three goals in six league appearances in Israel, a return that keeps him firmly in the conversation as one of the more exciting young Ghanaian forwards playing abroad.
