Ghana sit bottom of Group C with zero points, and ex-GHALCA boss Kudjoe Fianoo says those who shape the Black Stars' setup must answer for it.
Ghana's AFCON qualifying nightmare has turned into a full-blown accountability debate. Former GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo is demanding that the officials steering the Black Stars own the team's failures as well as its glories.
The Black Stars have made a miserable start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. They were beaten 2-0 by Ivory Coast in Bouake, then lost 4-2 at home to The Gambia. Two games, no points, and bottom spot in Group C.
Fianoo argues that defeat is part of football, and that a team which has given everything can walk away with its head high. His concern is the way Ghana approach major tournaments, with little sign of real belief that the team can even win a match. He says that mindset is the bigger problem.
He also took aim at how the national team's technical setup came together. Appointing a head coach, he stressed, is not a random event. It follows assessments and decisions made by football administrators, and he insists those people cannot bask in the praise when things go well and disappear when results sour.
With the group already slipping away, pressure is mounting on Ghana's football leadership for answers. Fianoo's message is clear: whoever made the calls must stand behind them.
