US Monastir, the 2021 Basketball Africa League finalist, has recently signed former NBA player, Ty Lawson. The news was shared by the Tunisian team on Instagram.

The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Lawson with the 18th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, trading him right away to the Denver Nuggets. Overall, Lawson spent eight years in the NBA, averaging 12.7 points, six assists, and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 46% FGM. His last full season in the league came in 2016-17 when he played 69 games for the Sacramento Kings. He also suited up for the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers during the 2015-16 season.
His last NBA appearance was with the Washington Wizards during the 2018 NBA playoffs, and ever since Lawson has played in the Chinese Basketball Association, before running into some <a href="https://www.si.com/nba/cavaliers/nba/cavaliers/nba-amico/ty-lawson-addresses-post">issues with the league in September 2020</a>. He spent two years with the Shandong Golden Stars, where he averaged 25.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.
