Black Starlets winger Apam Prince promises Ghana's young lions are ready to roar against Benin in Ouagadougou.
Ghana's Black Starlets are one win away from a WAFU Zone B U17 semi-final place, and winger Apam Prince says the squad is hungry to get it done. The Starlets meet Benin on Tuesday in their second Group A match in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Ghana opened the qualifiers with a 1-0 win over Togo. Beating Benin would send them through to the semi-finals automatically and move them closer to the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Apam, who trains at the GFA Elite Academy in Bolga, believes the team has more to offer than it has shown so far. He calls the squad "little lions" that have yet to make their full impact. "We're little lions in this competition and we are yet to roar. We are determined to conquer any team that comes our way. We are in for nothing but a win against Benin tomorrow," he said.
Benin will not be easy to beat. They drew 0-0 with hosts Burkina Faso in their opener, so they have a point on the board and will be organised and motivated to take something from this game. Ghana will need discipline and sharpness to turn their promising start into a place in the last four.
