Heart of Lions boss Kasim Gokyildiz wants a cleaner defensive display against Berekum Chelsea after errors at the back cost his side against Medeama.
Defensive lapses are shaping the story of the Ghana Premier League, and Heart of Lions coach Kasim Gokyildiz is determined that his side will not be the next to pay for them. Ahead of the Week 7 clash with Berekum Chelsea, the Kpando-based club's boss has made one message clear: cut out the mistakes.
The warning comes on the back of a painful loss to Medeama SC, a game Gokyildiz believes slipped away because of errors at the back. Rather than dwell on the setback, the coach wants his players to treat it as a lesson and carry a sharper, more focused mentality into this weekend's contest.
Gokyildiz also showed respect for the opposition. He pointed out that Berekum Chelsea know how to play and showed that in the previous meeting, so his focus is on what his own team can control. "We have only to avoid our own mistakes," he said, stressing that the team must build from its defence.
The fixture is set for Saturday, October 17, with kick-off at 3 pm at the Kpando Sports Stadium. Playing at home, Heart of Lions will be desperate to get back to winning ways, and the match could hinge on which side defends better when the pressure builds.
