Hamburg's Kofi Amoako, the Germany and Ghana midfielder, is reportedly on Hannover 96's radar just months after arriving in the Bundesliga.
Kofi Amoako, the Germany and Ghana midfielder, is being linked with a surprise exit from Hamburg. Reports point to 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 as the club interested in the 21-year-old defensive midfielder.
The talk comes only months after Amoako moved to the Bundesliga. Hamburg signed him from Dynamo Dresden on 1 July 2026 for €1.8m, and he put pen to paper on a contract through June 2030. Game time has been hard to come by since. He has made one league appearance this season, a three-minute cameo with no goals or assists, and has yet to start a Bundesliga match.
His market value is listed at €4m, more than double what Hamburg paid. Hannover, meanwhile, would offer a step down to the second tier, though possibly with the regular minutes he is missing in the top flight.
Amoako's route to this point has been steady. He came through the Wolfsburg academy and started his senior career there. He spent part of 2024-25 on loan at VfL Osnabrück, then joined Dynamo Dresden permanently in July 2025. After a single season in Dresden he earned the move to Hamburg.
For now this is only a rumour. No transfer fee has been reported, and nothing suggests a deal is close. Amoako is still tied to Hamburg for four more seasons, so the club holds the cards. Ghana fans will be watching to see whether the midfielder finds more playing time at Hamburg or elsewhere.
