Jimmy Butler out for season with ACL injury

Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler will miss the rest of the 2025-26 NBA season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The 36-year-old picked up the injury during Monday’s 135-112 victory over his former team, the Miami Heat, going off in the third quarter.
The Warriors acquired Butler from the Heat in February 2025 to mount another championship bid. While his absence puts a dent on those hopes, his agent, Bernie Lee, believes he will win it.
“Obviously a gut punch on every level for Jimmy and the entire group, but I firmly believe that this is a part of the journey,” Lee said in a statement.
“We can’t only expect to take the good things out of it. I’ve known for over 10 years now that Jimmy is going to win a championship before he is done. My belief in that is unwavering.”

Golden State must now consider whether to seek reinforcements before the February 5 trade deadline. The San Francisco outfit have won 12 of their past 16 games and are eighth in the Western Conference, with a record of 25 wins and 19 losses.
