Kudus Under Pressure to Turn Dribbling Flair Into Spurs Goals

Ghana's Mohammed Kudus must turn his trickery into goals and assists as winless Tottenham chase a first Premier League victory of the season.

All eyes are on Ghana's Mohammed Kudus at Tottenham, where the winger is being urged to sharpen his end product as Spurs hunt their first Premier League win of the 2026/27 campaign. The Black Stars star has shown glimpses of his quality since coming back from fitness problems that followed a season-ending hamstring injury last term, but the question is whether the flashes can become decisive moments.

The numbers tell the story of a player who is dangerous on the ball but not yet clinical. Kudus is averaging around 2.4 dribbles and 1.4 fouls won per game, even though he has started just once this season, in the recent clash with Manchester United. In that outing he completed two dribbles and won a foul, but his work in the final third lacked the cutting edge Spurs needed.

His one assist so far came in Tottenham's 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the September international break. It was a welcome contribution, yet it sits uneasily beside last season's return of two goals and five assists, a tally that has fuelled debate over whether Kudus offers more than his ability to beat a man.

Competition for attacking minutes is also fierce. Spurs have other players who can carry the ball forward, including Savio, Mathys Tel and Omar Marmoush, so Kudus cannot rely on his dribbling alone to earn a regular place. With Tottenham still waiting for that first league win, the Ghanaian has a clear chance to turn potential into production and prove he is more than just a ball-carrier.
