Ghana striker Prince Kwabena Adu misses Plzen's Europa League trip to Ferencvaros after a reported refusal to join a post-match running session.
Ghanaian forward Prince Kwabena Adu will not be on the plane for Viktoria Plzen's Europa League showdown with Ferencvaros in Budapest, after the Czech club reportedly demoted him from the first team for a disciplinary breach.
The trouble is said to have started after Plzen's league game against Mladá Boleslav. Adu, left on the bench by coach Radoslav Kováč, reportedly declined to join the post-match running session for unused players. The club responded with disciplinary action, and the striker has now been cut from the squad for Thursday's clash at the Groupama Arena.
No one has said how long the demotion will last, and the timing is awkward for a player already short of goals. Adu has two in 10 appearances for Plzen this season, one in the league and one in the Europa League qualifiers.
Things looked very different last term, when he established himself as one of Plzen's standout performers and earned wider recognition, including a place on the 2026 World Cup stage. Now he has to repair his standing at the club and fight his way back into the team, and every week on the sidelines makes that harder.
