Ashantigold boss Karim Zito says his side should have scored three against Samartex and must stop wasting chances before two huge Ghana Premier League clashes.
The Ghana Premier League is about to throw some serious heat at FC Ashantigold, and coach Abdul Karim Zito wants his strikers ready. The Miners bounced back in week six of the 2026/27 season with a win over FC Samartex, but their head coach is far from satisfied with how they got it done.
After the final whistle, Zito pointed to wasteful finishing as the main frustration. He felt his team should have walked away with at least three goals, while saying he was happy with the tactical side of the performance. In his view, the structure is working and the clinical edge is what's missing.
The timing makes the message even more urgent. Ashantigold now face back-to-back tests against Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko, two sides that rarely forgive missed chances. Zito made it clear that neither game will be easy and that his players cannot afford to be generous in front of goal.
First up is Aduana FC on Sunday, October 18, at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Then comes the big one on October 25, when Ashantigold welcome Asante Kotoko to the Len Clay Sports Stadium. Two matches, two heavyweights, and a title race that could swing on who finishes their moments best.
