Egypt advances to the AFCON quarterfinals after Mo Salah’s winning strike

Egypt makes it past Ivory Coast 5-4 to ladder up in the quarter-finals in AFCON following a 0-0 draw, as Mohamed Salah scores penalty kicks.

It was a dramatic finish as Ivory Coast initially had the upper hand in Eric Bailly to win it all, but after missing the shots, Salah came in to break the draw.

At the moment when the game mattered most, the Pharaohs’ captain netted the penalty, sending them to victory.

As a defender for Manchester United, Bailly took the final moments of the game very harshly as he was playing well throughout, but just missed the winner by a hair.

A matchup between Egypt and Morocco is scheduled for Sunday in Yaounde as part of the last eight of the African Cup of Nations.
