In a decisive match on Sunday, Enugu Rangers emerged victorious against Bendel Insurance, securing a 2-0 win and their eighth NPFL title.
The Flying Antelopes’ victory was sealed with goals from Augustine Kenechukwu in the 33rd minute and Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 65th minute.
Enugu Rangers’ win coincided with losses for their closest rivals, Remo Stars and Enyimba, who fell 2-1 to Sunshine Stars and Sporting Lagos, respectively.
With this victory, Enugu Rangers have solidified their position as one of the top teams in the NPFL, now trailing Enyimba’s record of nine titles by just one.
Enugu Rangers have previously won the Nigerian top-flight championship in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, and 2016.
Their latest triumph earns them a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League and a prize of 150 million naira.
