Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay for the funeral expenses of the slain George Floyd.
The boxing great has promised to help Floyd’s family mourn their loss and will finance four funeral services.
Floyd died last Monday after police officer Derek Chavin kneeled on his neck and suffocated him to death.
TMZ reports that the funeral services for Floyd will be held in Houston, Minnesota, Charlotte, and another yet-to-be-named location.
Further reports suggest that the CEO of the TMT music label Anzel Jennings grew up with Floyd.
Mayweather’s promotional company, Mayweather Promotions, took to Twitter to confirm the offer, of which reports suggest Floyd’s family have accepted.
A cheque of $88,500 from Mayweather to Floyd’s family for the latter’s funeral services has also surfaced on social media.
This is, however, not the first time that Mayweather has offered to cover the funeral costs of people.
The former five-division world champion also paid for the funerals of his former opponent Genaro Hernandez and that the legendary Joe Frazier nine years ago.
