Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe Defeats Top American Opponent to Set up World Title Fight

Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe grinds out a splendid split points victory over America’s Joet to win the WBO International featherweight title.

A WBC featherweight title eliminator, Dogboe has put himself up for a shot at the WBC featherweight title next as he chases his dream of becoming a two-time world champion.

Dogboe said after the bout: “I said to the people that my journey can be a Hollywood blockbuster movie, and I praise God always.

“Whoever the champions are, they should watch out. The ‘Royal Storm,’ I am back, baby!”

In a super close fight, Dogboe, popularly known by the ringside as ‘Royal Storm’, won the 10th and final round on all three ringside judges’ scorecards to eke out the split points victory.

Patrick Morley had Gonzalez just ahead at 96-94 but his score was overruled by Tim Cheatham and Mike Fitzgerald who both scored for Dogboe by the same margin.

Isaac Dogboe’s career looked to be heading to obscurity after back to back defeats to Emmanuel Naverette, he bounced back strongly and he is currently on a four win streak .
