Giroud is now France’s second-highest goalscorer of all time

Olivier Giroud scored two goals on his 100th appearance with the captain's armband for France

French football star, Olivier Giroud has overtaken legend, Michel Platini, to become the second-highest goalscorer of all time for Les Bleus.

The Chelsea striker scored a brace for France in an international friendly on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

Giroud, 34, played his 100th game for France and he sent his goal tally to 42 after the two first-half goals against Ukraine.

He is also now nine goals adrift of Thierry Henry’s record.

Teenager Eduardo Camavinga, 17, netted the opener on his full debut to become France’s second-youngest scorer.

Corentin Tolisso, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann all found the net.

Didier Deschamps’ side also benefited from Vitaliy Mykolenko’s own goal and although Viktor Tsygankov pulled a goal back for 4-1, the visitors were outclassed in Paris.

The thrashing marked the worst defeat in Ukraine’s history, with the side now managed by former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko.
