Henry Ruggs III, wide receiver for Las Vegas Raiders, was involved in fatal car accident – To Be Charged with DUI Resulting In Death

TMZ Sports reported on Tuesday that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a serious car accident in Vegas. Police have now announced that Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death after one person died in the crash.

At around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the LVMPD responded to a collision involving Ruggs’ Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Rav4, which was discovered on fire and with the deceased victim inside it. The initial investigation concluded that Ruggs’ vehicle hit the other car from behind and caused the crash.

Ruggs remained on the scene after the accident and “showed signs of impairment” before being taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Ruggs’ attorney released this statement to TMZ on the incident:

“On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered.”

The investigation into this situation is ongoing, but this is obviously tragic news and seemingly horrible judgement from the Raiders youngster. A life is over, his career could be over, and he could wind up in jail. PFF’s Ari Meirov notes that “under Nevada law, DUI resulting in death is a Class B felony and punishment includes 2-to-20 years in prison.”
