Isaiah Thomas honors Kobe Bryant with number choice

New Orleans Pelicans guard Isaiah Thomas was signed by the team recently to a 10-day contract, as members of the team roster are battling with injuries. Thomas decided to give tribute to the late Kobe Bryant in his own way.

Though Isaiah and Kobe were never teammates, they were friends and the latter was also a mentor. They had been studying game films together. During the sad and tragic death of Isaiah’s sister, the Black Mamba was a source of comfort for the Thomas’ family. As many, Isaiah was also devastated by Kobe’s death.

Isaiah Thomas will attempt to make the most out of his short-term deal with New Orleans. People tend to forget that at one point in his career, Thomas was an MVP candidate with the Boston Celtics.

Unfortunately, a major hip injury affected his career and his production took a deep dive since. At 5-foot-9, Thomas has to rely on quickness and agility to get his shot up and make an impact in the game. The injury  actually took away much of that.
