Kyrie Irving ruled out of Brooklyn Nets’ next 3 games due to ‘family matter’

Kyrie Irving's absence from the Brooklyn Nets has cost him nearly $1 million

Kyrie Irving will miss the Brooklyn Nets’ next three games while dealing with a “family matter,” the team announced on Monday.

Irving will miss a three-game road trip for the Nets, where they will take on the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. It’s unclear specifically what Irving’s “family matter” is.

Irving has averaged a career-high 28.1 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 31 games so far this season. He has missed 12 games this season, including four due to injury maintenance.

Irving missed seven games in January due to “family and personal stuff,” and said that he “just needed a pause.” He violated the NBA’s health and safety protocol during that break, too, and was filmed at a party without a mask.
