Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Arsenal’s Elneny test positive again for Covid-19

Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny have again tested positive for coronavirus, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced today.

Salah, who is the joint leading scorer in the Premier League this season with eight goals, will miss the visit from league leaders Leicester City on Sunday.

The Liverpool star was originally diagnosed with the illness last Friday, and he faced criticism having attended the wedding of his brother earlier in the week. Elneny’s agent revealed on Monday that the Arsenal midfielder had also contracted the virus.

Two days on, the EFA confirmed both players still have Covid-19 in their systems. “Today, Mohamed Salah, the star of the national team and the English club Liverpool, made a new swab to detect the COVID-19 virus, but its result was positive,” an EFA statement read. ”

“And Mohamed Elneny, the star of the national team and Arsenal, also conducted a second swab, which confirmed its positive results.”

Salah is also likely to be ruled out of Liverpool’s Champions League game against Atalanta next Wednesday, while Elneny is expected to miss Arsenal’s trip to Leeds United on Sunday and their Europa League clash at Molde on Nov 26.
